Roulette Rules
In the game of Roulette the spinning of the wheel and the releasing of the ball are controlled by an employee of the casino (the dealer). This means that the player has no control in determining how the wining number is selected. The player involvement is in trying to correctly identify which number the ball will end up in on the spinning wheel. Players select the number to wager on using anything from Roulette systems designed to beat Roulette to simply picking a favourite number. There excitement in Roulette is in waiting to see if the number you have placed your wager on will win.
There are many different wagers in Roulette. Here are the different bets you can make and their payoffs:
Inside bets (a bet made on numbers - these numbers are made on the inside part of the table layout):
One number bets - Depending on the type of Roulette wheel used (single zero or double zero) there are 37 or 38 ways to bet on a single number winning. Winning bets pay 35:1.
Two number bets - There are 62 adjacent numbers on the table layout. You bet that one of your selected pair will win. Winning bets pay 17:1.
Three number bets - There are 15 rows of three numbers on the table layout. You bet that one of numbers in the row will win. Winning bets pay 11:1.
Four number bets - There are 22 groups of squares of four numbers. You bet that one of the numbers in your selected square of four numbers will win. Winning bets pay 8:1.
Five number bets - This bet can only be made when using the double zero wheel. You are betting that one of the numbers 00, 0, 1, 2 or 3 will win. Winning bets pay 6:1.
Six number bets - There are 11 places you can bet on two rows of three numbers. You bet that one of the numbers on the two rows you selected will win. Winning bets pay 5:1.
Outside bets (bets made on groups of numbers - these bets are made on an area bordering the numbers on the table layout):
Dozens bets - The numbers 1 to 36 are divided into three groups; 1 to 12, 13 to 24 and 25 to 36. You select one of these groups and bet that the winning number will be part of your selection. Winning bets pay 2:1.
Odd or Even bets - The numbers 1 to 36 are divided into two groups (odd and even). You bet on the winning number being an even or odd number depending on whish you have wagered on. The numbers zero and double zero are not part of the bet, if they win this bet loses. Winning bets pay 1:1.
Red or Black bets - The numbers 1 to 36 are divided into two groups (red and black). You bet on the winning number being a red or black number depending on whish you have wagered on. The numbers zero and double zero are coloured green, if they win this bet loses. Winning bets pay 1:1.
Column Bets - The numbers 1 to 36 on the table layout are split into three columns. You bet that the winning number will be in the column of 12 numbers you have selected. Winning bets pay 2:1.
